The University of Surrey equips studio with new GY-HM790 camcorder
The University of Surrey has equipped their TV studio with JVC’s GY-HM790 studio camcorder, ideal for their teaching and broadcast requirements. Brian Johnson, Television Manager at the University, explains the reasons behind their decision.
“We’ve used JVC cameras in the past and we‘ve always been
impressed with the reliability and performance of their equipment," Brain explains. “They are generally very easy to use and priced reasonably, which is what you want you look for,
especially in education. We are planning to use GY-HM790 will be used as our main studio camera.”
The GY-HM790, which can be used as both a studio and ENG camera, is another addition to the university’s JVC camera range, which includes the GY-HM700 and GY-HD251 studio camera. The cameras are being used in the university’s Television Centre for use with their media courses and are used regularly by students.
“We are currently using Final Cut Pro to edit footage and as the GY-HM790 natively records .MOV files, we knew this would fit in with our workflow perfectly,” Brian states.
“Using SDHC media is also very useful for us as we save a lot of storage space."
Brian concludes, “Overall I would say we have been very impressed with the picture quality and performance of the GY-HM790 studio setup and we look forward to using the camera with
our students on future projects”.
